- For a seamless, smooth finish, tile joints must be filled before coating
✔ How to Fill Tile Joints
- Apply suitable filler into the tile joints
- Press firmly to ensure the joints are completely filled
- Level the surface as evenly as possible
✔ Drying
- Allow the filler to fully dry before proceeding to the next step
👉 Do not rush this process
⚠️ Common Mistakes
❌ Not pressing filler deep into joints
❌ Leaving uneven or sunken joints
❌ Applying coating before filler is fully dry
👉 Proper joint filling is key to achieving a smooth, seamless finish
🟦 Step 1 – Surface Preparation
⏱ Estimated Time: 30–90 Minutes
Proper surface preparation is critical for good adhesion and long-lasting results.
✔ Sanding (IMPORTANT)
Sanding is a critical step to ensure proper adhesion of the coating system. It helps to:
- Remove surface contaminants such as soap residue, wax, gum, and dirt
- Create a clean surface for better coating bite and adhesion
- Ensure a strong and long-lasting bond between coating and floor surface
✔ Sanding Process
- Use 40-grit sandpaper with a sanding disc
- Sand the entire floor surface evenly
- Focus on removing all surface residue, including skirting areas if they will also be coated
⚠️ Common Mistakes
❌ Skipping sanding on dirty or waxed surfaces
❌ Not removing soap or oily residue properly
❌ Over-sanding and removing filler from joints
❌ Leaving uneven or raised areas
👉 Proper sanding is essential for coating adhesion and long-term durability
✔ Surface Cleaning
- Remove all dust, dirt, grease, soap residue, and wax
- Use the floor wipe cleaning solution provided in our set
Steps:
- Pour a small amount of floor wipe cleaning solution onto a cloth
- Wipe the entire floor area thoroughly
- Include skirting areas if you are coating them
⚠️ Common Mistakes
❌ Leaving soap, wax, or oily residue
❌ Skipping cleaning after sanding
👉 Surface cleaning is one of the most important steps.
✔ Masking & Skirting Protection (IMPORTANT)
After cleaning:
✔ Step-by-Step Masking Process
✔ Apply masking tape to all unwanted areas
✔ Tape skirting edges carefully for clean finishing lines
✔ Cover sinks, taps, shower heads, drains, and metal fixtures
✔ Press tape firmly to prevent seepage underneath
✔ Additional Protection Notes
⚠️ Ensure no water drips onto the coating during application or curing.
Tape any possible dripping water outlets such as:
- Shower heads
- Water pipes
- Taps
- Fixtures
✔ Masking Tip
Use long continuous strips of masking tape instead of many short pieces.
👉 Easier removal
👉 Cleaner edge lines
👉 Less tape residue
🟨 Step 2 – Primer Application
Apply epoxy primer evenly to ensure strong adhesion for the coating system.
✔ Mixing Ratio (IMPORTANT)
Primer mixing ratio: 👉 5 : 1 (Part A : Part B)
Example Mixes
- 1kg Part A + 200g Part B
- 500g Part A + 100g Part B
⚠️ Always measure accurately. Do not estimate.
✔ How to Mix Properly
✔ For full set usage, the most common method is to pour all Part A into Part B and mix thoroughly.
👉 If you plan to coat another area or future project, you may divide and measure based on the recommended mixing ratio instead.
- Shake Part A well before pouring
- Measure the required amount accurately
- Mix Part A and Part B thoroughly until fully blended
✔ Mixing & Preparation
✔ Ensure mixing container is clean and dry
✔ No water, dust, or old paint residue inside container
✔ Application
- Use roller for even coverage
- Apply a thin, consistent layer
- Ensure full coverage of tile lines and original floor color
👉 For better flake bonding, you may apply 2 thin layers on one section (second layer immediately after the first), then broadcast flakes straight away while the primer is still wet.
⏱ Working Time (CRITICAL)
Once mixed, the material immediately begins curing.
👉 Use immediately after mixing.
⚠️ Do NOT:
❌ Mix and keep for later
❌ Leave mixed material unused for long periods
⚠️ Common Mistakes
❌ Incorrect mixing ratio
❌ Not mixing thoroughly
❌ Delaying application after mixing
🟪 Step 3 – Flake Application
Apply flakes onto the wet primer layer to create a decorative and uniform finish.
✔ Main Application
- Broadcast flakes evenly across the floor surface
- Apply while the primer is still wet for proper adhesion
🧠 Understanding the Flake Bonding Rule
👉 Think of it like dust sticking onto a wet surface. When the primer is still wet, flakes will properly stick and bond onto the surface, ensuring an even and consistent finish.
✔ After Sprinkling
- Use the dustpan provided to gently sweep and level excess flakes
- Ensure even coverage across the entire floor
✔ Section-by-Section Method
You will not be able to coat and flake the entire floor at once. Work in sections to ensure proper timing and even finish.
- Apply primer on one section
- Immediately broadcast flakes while wet
- Move gradually to next section
👉 Around 4–6 sqft per section. Start from the furthest corner and work towards the exit.
✔ Joining Between Sections
To reduce visible joints:
✔ Sweep excess flakes slightly into completed section
✔ Overlap primer around 1–2mm into previous section
✔ Apply only a thin overlap layer
👉 This helps create a seamless transition.
✔ Skirting Application Method
- First, apply flakes evenly on the floor surface while the primer is still wet
- Push flakes gently towards the area under the skirting for better coverage
- Then use the dustpan to sweep flakes upward onto the primed skirting area
- Ensure flakes are evenly distributed for a smooth and consistent finish
👉 This method creates a seamless transition between floor and skirting, giving a continuous and professional-looking result
✔ For higher walls (e.g. 5ft):
Use the dustpan to collect flakes, then lightly spread them from the dustpan onto the wall for controlled and even coverage.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
❌ Waiting too long until primer starts drying before applying flakes
❌ Uneven flake distribution on floor surface
❌ Not covering skirting area properly
👉 Timing is critical — flakes must be applied while primer is still wet for proper bonding
✔ After Flake Application
✔ Do not sweep or disturb flakes
✔ Allow flakes to settle and cure naturally
✔ Masking Tape Removal
After initial setting (approximately 10–15 minutes):
✔ Wear plastic foot cover
✔ Carefully enter area only for tape removal
✔ Remove masking tape gently
✔ Avoid touching flake surface
⚠️ After removing tape, do not re-enter the coated area again.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
❌ Trying to coat entire floor at once
❌ Uneven flake distribution
❌ Allowing primer to dry before flakes
❌ Heavy overlap causing visible joints
❌ Poor working direction planning
👉 Timing is critical for proper flake bonding.
🟫 Step 4 – Flake Curing & Surface Preparation
⏱ Estimated Time: 6+ Hours Drying
Allow flakes to fully cure before topcoat preparation.
✔ Curing Time
Approximate drying time: 👉 Around 6 hours or until fully dry
⚠️ Drying time varies depending on:
- Temperature
- Ventilation
- Humidity
✔ How to Improve Drying
✔ Improve airflow
✔ Open windows if possible
✔ Use fan to improve air circulation
✔ Dryness Check
Before proceeding, lightly touch the surface. If still sticky: 👉 Wait longer. Only proceed when fully dry and stable.
✔ Collect Excess Flakes
After curing:
✔ Collect all loose flakes
✔ Excess flakes are reusable for future touch-ups or projects
✔ Flake Surface Sanding (IMPORTANT)
After fully cured:
✔ Use 180-grit sandpaper
✔ Sand lightly and evenly
Purpose:
- Remove standing or sharp flakes
- Reduce rough texture
- Improve topcoat smoothness
⚠️ Do not sand aggressively.
👉 Without sanding, the surface may become overly rough and may consume excessive topcoat due to uneven flake texture.
✔ Vacuum Cleaning (IMPORTANT)
After sanding:
✔ Vacuum the entire surface thoroughly
✔ Remove all loose flakes and dust
👉 This prevents loose flakes from detaching later during usage.
⚠️ Common Mistakes
❌ Applying topcoat on sticky surface
❌ Skipping sanding
❌ Sanding too aggressively
❌ Leaving loose flakes or dust before topcoat
👉 Proper curing and preparation are essential for a professional finish.
🟥 Step 5 – 2K Polyurethane Topcoat (Final Protection)
⏱ Estimated Time: 20–30 Minutes
Seal the entire coating system with protective topcoat.
✔ Mixing Ratio (IMPORTANT)
2K Polyurethane mixing ratio: 👉 4 : 1 (Part A : Part B)
Example Mixes
- 800g Part A + 200g Part B
- 400g Part A + 100g Part B
✔ Mixing & Preparation
✔ Ensure mixing container is clean and dry
✔ No water, dust, or old paint residue inside container
Mixing Method:
- Pour Part B into Part A
- Stir thoroughly until fully blended
✔ Application
✔ Apply evenly using roller
✔ Ensure complete and consistent coverage
✔ Avoid dry patches or uneven coating
👉 This layer provides:
- Waterproofing
- Protection
- Durability
- Final gloss finish
✔ Optional Second Coat
If additional gloss or protection is desired:
✔ Optional second coat may be applied if material condition remains usable
✔ Curing Instructions
✔ Keep area ventilated
